Latin Name: Carausius morosus
 
Description: Long slender body, usually green/brown in colour. Long antennae. Adults have red markings on their front legs.
 
Range: Southern India
 
Habitat: Bushes and trees
 
Diet: Leaves. Most species will feed on ivy, privet, bramble, beach, oak and eucalyptus.
 
Care in Captivity: Must be housed in a container high enough for insect to hang and shed it’s skin. Enclosure must be well ventilated. A one inch layer of peat soil mixed with vermiculite can help to maintain humidity. Room temperature is ideal (18-26oC) – be aware of night temperature drops. Spray every 2-3 days but do not allow enclosure to become too wet. Clean enclosures regularly and wash with hot water as required. Ideally, replace substrate monthly.
