Habitats

This workshop asks what conditions must be available in a habitat in order to sustain life. Both local and worldwide habitats, such as desert and tropical forest, are explored by examining the adaptations of a variety of animals.

Food Webs

We ask the questions: What are living things? What is photosynthesis? Using our range of animals we investigate why some are herbivores and others carnivores. The food chain is thoroughly examined and charted from all angles.

Classification

Discover the world of taxonomy with some real live animals to illustrate the finer points of classification. Find out about the two main groups into which living things can be classified.

Rainforest Roadshow

This workshop takes students on a journey through the many layers of a tropical rainforest, from the dark forest floor to the dizzy heights of the canopy. With the help of some real rainforest animals students can explore predator-prey relationships and food webs. Discover how a variety of creatures adapt to fit their surroundings and what it means for a species to be endangered.

Endangered Animals

Let’s discuss what it means to be endangered. Here we turn our attention to animals and why we must ensure a rich environmental sustainability for their sake as well as ours. The larger the world population becomes the more likely many animals will become extinct. We investigate what causes animals to become endangered and what we can do to protect them.

Adaptations

Why have animals evolved over millions of years? Are they still evolving? Do animals adapt well to change? Will some animals cease to exist due to man’s bad habits? These and many more questions are investigated in this workshop.

Other Venues for a ZooLab experience

Adult Education

Inviting ZooLab into an adult education setting can prove to be a remarkable experience for everyone involved. The session can help boost confidence and interaction with others.

Children’s Hospices

ZooLab appear at the hospice to sensitively deliver a fun and exciting session for children, parents and the carers. We follow instructions to the letter with regards to any particular situation.

Christenings

At christening parties there are sure to be lots of children that need to be amused after they’ve scoffed the sandwiches and cake. ZooLab could be a welcome addition to this special event and children will remember the day for a very long time.

Corporate Events

ZooLab is the perfect accompaniment to such events. Can tough execs face up to and conquer their fears and phobias? Can they handle a snake or get up close to a tarantula? ZooLab is a great distraction and can help recharge even the flattest of batteries.

Nursing/Care/Residential Facilities

Animal therapy sessions have been said to improve physical, psychological and social wellbeing, allow residents of all ages and abilities to interact with various animals that we introduce them to. This stimulating experience also helps promote verbal communication between residents and carers and can sometime rekindle memories of times past.

Public Venues

Museums, fetes, open days, in fact anywhere that families will gather is a suitable venue for a ZooLab visit. As with all our workshops there is plenty of hands on time for everyone who wished to do so.

Pupil Referal Units

The use of ZooLab in small unit numbers is ideal for allowing children to interact with both animals and presenter. Our workshops will assist children to attain responsibility through holding and caring for our animals.

Shopping Centres and Town Centres

ZooLab is an ideal shopping centre and town centre attraction, suitable for children and adults of all ages. A visit from ZooLab works well at school half term and summer holidays and also at bank holiday weekends. It is also suitable at weekends when focussed attractions are being organised in shopping centres or town centres.

Special Educational Needs

ZooLab workshops, like ‘Senses and Textures’ and ‘Pets’ are highly recommended for this client group where the ideal number of participants is between 10 and 15. This allows our presenter to offer a greater and fulfilling one to one time with the children.

Wedding Receptions

If you need to keep children entertained at wedding receptions during top table speeches or when formal photographs are being taken then we have the answer with an informal ZooLab session. It will keep them amused and out of harms way during the event.
