KS 1, First Stage. Ages 4 - 7

OVERVIEW: 

Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education puts an emphasis on preparing future generations to be successful in their careers.

ZooLab’s new STEM workshop studies how animal adaptations work giving a real-world application necessary for developing an innovative mind.

ZooLab Environmental Time Machine

KS 1, 2, 3, ; First, Second, Third Stage.
Ages 8+

 

OVERVIEW: The ZET (Zoolab Environment Time Machine) is an interactive interface which travels long through the past and years into the future looking at climate data. What animals have become extinct animals and what problems is the planet facing?  Comparing data from different eras allows us to form a direct comparison between human behaviour and climate change.

Caring For Living Things

This workshop explores the diverse requirements of a range of ZooLab animals, we discover that often creatures need the same core things to survive; food, water, oxygen and shelter.

Predators, Prey & Food Chains

Pupils discover feeding connections as they get hands-on with the animals.

 

They learn where energy comes from and how consumers can cause disruption to a food web.

Life Cycles

This workshop uses ZooLab animals to discuss new life, growth, reproduction and ageing.

There’s a focus on the metamorphosis of a butterfly and the various stages of its development.

Biodiversity

This workshop looks at the variety of life on the planet. We look at biodiversity around the world and warns of the dangers to the balance of nature.

We also highlight the diversity of arachnids, insects and amphibians.

We explore Darwin and his theories. You’ll get to meet some of our extraordinary animals and learn about historical figures, evolution, habitats and adaptations.
