Chris Oldfield

ZooLab Ranger

Chris joined ZooLab in 2022 and works in Wigan and the surrounding areas.

Licence Number: AAL0136

Experience: Chris has degree in music, and prior to working at ZooLab, was a teaching assistant for 5 years. He’s always been passionate about wildlife and conservation and spends his time studying wildlife in areas such as Rainforest. He’s also completed his big cats diploma level 3.

About:  "I’ve recently returned from South Africa where I was dealing with animals that have come from conflict areas. When desert lions, for example, come into contact with farmers, it was my job to help move them to safe reserves in Namibia where they get a second chance in life and are able to roam freely.

Working for ZooLab lets me continue working with animals here in the UK. My favourite ZooLab animals are Ghost, Spirits and Shadow. They are inquisitive, intelligent, and sociable - a joy to have really!"

Interesting Fact: Apart from animals, Chris' other passion is music! He's been playing drums for over 20 years now – so between all the animals and the drumming, the neighbours have it tough!
