This small, independent museum celebrates the lives and history of those living in Wimbledon. It features a collection of artefacts, models and taxidermy with lots of local information and history on display.

THE BRIEF:

The team at the Wimbledon Museum have a good relationship with the local community and have a bustling diary of social events throughout the year.

They wanted to utilise word of mouth to engage families in the local area to interact with them as a local community hub.

ZooLab’s animal handling workshops were the perfect accompaniment to their social calendar proving popular, exciting and well received by families.

Our experiential exotic animal handling session really helped bring their exhibits to life.

THE SOLUTION:

The museum had some taxidermies of a badger, peacock, trout, bat, red squirrel, stoat and duckling.

Using our exotic animals as a tool, we created a bespoke script that linked each of our animals to one in the museum.

The children were excited to see ZooLab's exotic animals and after the session, go and explore the museum space to find these other animals too.

"The session was a huge success. The animals really helped bring the story to life and gave our visitors an experience they are unlikely to forget”

Get up-close and hands-on

We ran four sold out shows over two days. They were attended by families with children; from early years, primary and even secondary. We adjusted the script to fit the audience demographic and ensured we delivered information appropriate and relevant to the spread of ages.
