One of the best things about ZooLab has got to be working with an incredible team! Each month, Ranger Anna will interview a member of the ZooLab family.
This month we will be speaking to Team Leader, Ross Muir
Hi Ross, how long have you worked for ZooLab?
It has just turned 15 years!
What is your role in the company?
Training Manager and Ranger.
You can see Ross in action here:
What is something you love about working for ZooLab?
Working with the gang of great animals. It is a privilege to be able to guard, look after and present them.
With ZooLab, everyday is different! Can you think of a day which was completely out of the ordinary for you?
A day when I don't get asked, "Do you have a girlfriend?" in that 'who would possibly want to live with you with all those animals' tone.
Tell us a little bit about yourself! You get up in the morning and then what? How do you prepare for the day?
I rise, drink coffee, watch a little bit of the breakfast news. Then carry out husbandry tasks. After that I prepare the animals for the day's visits interspaced by an exercise regime.
What's your ultimate favourite food?
Mince (beef, pork or turkey)
Tell us some of your hobbies!
Constructing giant papier mâché models.
Here are a few of his current projects:
If you could move anywhere, where would it be?
New York where I would share a penthouse at the top of the Empire State building with my animals.
If you were an animal, what would it be?
A lone wolf.
And finally, what are you most likely to become famous for?
Infamous more like, for being the first person to meet a visiting extra terrestrial and saying the wrong thing - causing a great intergalactic insult which results in the human race being destroyed or forced to listen to the music of James Blunt!
